LESS THAN A MONTH TO GO! UAS MAPPING 2015 RENO

Bethesda, MD – Only one month to go until the second annual American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) UAS MAPPING 2015 RENO! There are several UAS conferences this fall, so why should you attend the Technical Symposium and Demonstration organized by ASPRS? Here’s why:

  1. ASPRS is a professional organization uniquely qualified in aerial imaging and mapping. Our experts will be on-hand to explore with you the latest in UAS technology and applications.
  2. This program includes flights of an ASPRS test site which incorporates geodetic control and radiometric targets for analysis of UAS data.
  3. ASPRS is sponsoring a UAS Data Processing Workshop.
  4. The technical symposium and demonstration is providing public outreach to young people through inclusion of Nevada-area Civil Air Patrol cadets in the test site flights.
  5. In addition to a program focused on “best practice” for collection and processing of data, attendees will be treated to networking, social activities and live demonstrations.

UAS INDUSTRY LEADERS PARTICIPATING IN UAS MAPPING 2015 RENO

Bethesda, MD – the second annual UAS technical symposium sponsored by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) announces that industry leaders in the UAS commercial industry are onboard for UAS MAPPING 2015 RENO! The program uniquely includes test course flights, data processing workshops, live demonstration, and a strong technical program focused on “best practice” for collection and processing of data from UAS. 

Industry leaders are on the program to provide practical information on advances on sensors and platforms as well as soup-to-nuts details on planning a mission, controlling the mission, flying the mission, and processing the data. ASPRS is “The Imaging and Geospatial Information Society” and its members will be evaluating issues such as accuracy and data quality. By popular demand, the program will bring presentations highlighting real-world UAS mapping applications – transportation, survey design-build, infrastructure assessment, natural resource monitoring, and agriculture. Toward the end of the second day, a special panel of experts will provide “A Look Ahead” into technologies and developments that will impact UAS Mapping. Technical presenters include Mike Tully of Aerial Services, Inc., Dr. Bernd Lutz of Multirotor Service Drone, Baptiste Tripard of SenseFly, Wolfgang Juchmann of Velodyne, Antoine Martin of Pix4D, Keith Fieldhouse of Kitware, Tom Breen of Headwall-Photonics, Jeremy Eastwood of Drone Deploy, to name a few. Visionaries such as Jonathan Evans of Skyward, Keven Gambold of Unmanned Experts, Colin Snow of Drone Analyst, Stewart Baillie of Unmanned Systems Canada, and Don Weigel of Airware round out the technical program providing a vision of our UAS future in keeping with the symposium theme of “Change is in the Air”. The speakers listed are a subset of the full list of UAS industry leaders that are part of the technical program.

Reno is buzzing with excitement over the first conference to bring together experts in both the UAS and geospatial/mapping industries. The American Society of Remote Sensing (ASPRS) hosted event takes place October 21-22, and will feature live UAS demonstrations, over 70+ exhibitors/speakers, and presentations of aerial survey data processed by skilled data processors. ASPRS and non-ASPRS members are welcome and encouraged to sign up through the eventbrite page, and may do so all the way up until next Tuesday. Everyone interested in unmanned aircraft systems and/or aerial mapping applications/standards will benefit tremendously by attending!

‘Change is in the Air’ – The First of its kind UAS Symposium

”Change is in the Air.” This is the tagline of our fall symposium, which denotes the excitement and also the angst that goes along with change.

“What interests me most about the conference is the different types of people that will be there. It’s not just photogrammetrists, it’s not just law enforcement, it’s not just firefighters. It’s different types of people from the data collection side and the data consumption side, and it’s only really when you get those people together that you really start to talk about how do we create systems that are going to work well for all of these interests.” – Brandon Basso, PH.D., Senior R&D Research Engineer at 3D Robotics

Reno, NV – The first UAS technical symposium sponsored by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) announces that industry leaders in the UAS commercial industry are onboard for UAS MAPPING 2014 RENO!

The technical program has been designed to provide practical information on sensor types and platforms as well as soup-to-nuts details on planning a mission, controlling the mission, flying the mission, and processing the data. ASPRS is “The Imaging and Geospatial Information Society” and its members will be evaluating issues such as accuracy and data quality. Technical presenters include David Ward of Silent Falcon, Dr. Bernd Lutz of Multirotor Service Drone, Baptiste Tripard of senseFly, Ruedi Wagner of Leica Geosystems, Wolfgang Juchmann of Velodyne, Antoine Martin of Pix4D, Heather James of Kitware, Dr. Hank Theiss of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, David Dvorak of Field of View, Vince Ambrosia of NASA, Nazlin Kanji of AeroVironment, to name a few. Visionaries such as Chris Anderson of 3D Robotics, Peter Birch of Google, Jonathan Evans of Skyward, Colin Snow of Drone Analysis, and Gerald Kinn of ESRI round out the technical program providing a vision of our UAS future in keeping with the symposium theme of “Change is in the Air”. The speakers listed are a subset of the full list of UAS industry leaders that are part of the technical program. Reno, NV – The first technical UAS symposium sponsored by the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is approaching (October 21-22)! The deadline for early registration has been extended to allow attendees just learning about this exciting event to take advantage of low registration and exhibition fees. The current fee for ASPRS members to attend the event is only $250. The current fee for non-ASPRS members to attend the event is only $300. Exhibitors are provided an exhibit booth and benefits which include two complimentary registrations for only $600. All rates will go up in price on September 12, 2014, so register now!

This unique event will showcase UAS in operation including flights of the first UAS Mapping Calibration Test Course designed to be a permanent facility for the validation and accuracy assessment of UAS sensor payloads. General sessions will focus on the mapping and remote sensing aspects of unmanned acquisitions with the goal to provide practical information on UAS flight planning, acquisition, data processing and map production. National and international speakers will address current-day and developing UAS applications. Academia and research institutions will inform on existing educational and training opportunities. Survey, mapping, and engineering firms will be on-hand to share their experience and further their UAS implementation strategies. Government agencies will share information on the development of national and international mapping programs. UAS firms will benefit from meeting the managers of the Nevada UAS program and obtaining first-hand information on utilization of the Nevada UAS Test Site.
